Sailing to Isla Espiritu Santos
With Marina
This is Marina. She is a certified captain and a badass sailor
Marina, a female Captain is 24, oddly she has a 24 foot sailboat! We met her at Club Cruseros, which is a port for sailboats in La Paz, Baja California. Marina was one of the first, whom we spoke to about sailing! We connected and started vibin with Marina immediately, soon after she invited us to go explore an island! Only way there is by boat.
She gave us our first sailing experience out to Isla Espiritu Santos for a weekend. She taught four newbies how to sail a boat and she was an excellent teacher. We rode along side Kyle, another sailor we met at the port. All of us planning to meet at the same destination and party together!
March 8th, 2019 the day Lyle came in to this World. We set out to sea and headed south with the wind. Marina, the captain, along with four crew members Amber, Lyle, John and Viviana. Ready to learn and jam out because the sun was out in our favor! With La Paz getting further behind us, we started to catch the wind in the sails that carry us out opposite of the shore.
Look at sailing as a Wave, like a sound wave. Catching the wind on the two side, to go out & in and up & down. So we were out in the sea of Cortez heading south.
When we saw choppy water off the side of us, we had no idea what it could be. So, we set sail to for that point but the choppy water was coming right at us! Eyes were clear and wide open.
As school of Dolphins, hundreds of them revealed themselves to us. Incredible, mind-blowing, breathtaking an unforgettable moment as they swam around the boat!
With good there is bad, sad to say the footage was lost... but not forgotten.

Catching Viviana in her moment enjoying the sunset. Shortly before we got hit with a storm and had an epic adventure on the 24 footer trying to get back to land as the wind pushed us further away...

Time after in the day, a storm rolled in. Marina took control and handling it flawlessly. Boat sideways, sails full of wind going max speed with wave of water splashing in the boat. We lost the throw-up bucket... It was pitch black in the night, we decided to drop anchor in a near by cove. Making our way through but hindered by a sandbar. We decided the only thing we can do is hope for a better day during high-tide. The water that night was absolutely beautiful, a luminous shine with rays flowing below!

We woke up with the boat turned sideways. Thankfully a motorboat came to our aid, pulling us out of the sand.

Next, we headed to near by cove with an amazing beach. We explored the land then went back to the boat for dinner.
Lyle decided that he want to go snorkeling to try a Hawaiian Sling fishing spear in the frigid water as the sun was setting.

The next day concluded our sailing adventure as we sailed back to Club Cruseros, passing Steven Spielberg‘s mansion of a boat.

Enjoy the Waves and Music with us!
